Shanxi Archaeological Museum Inaugurates

The Shaanxi Archaeological Museum, a special museum dedicated to archaeology, was officially completed in Xi'an on April 16 and is expected to open in the near future.
Shaanxi Archaeological Museum is located in Chang'an District of Xi'an. It is on the south of Qinling Mountains and was designed by Zhang Jinqiu, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. The building follows the Tang Dynasty style and is designed to be a garden, which is a natural part of the Qinling Ecological Zone. The overall layout of the museum is divided into an open area and a work area. The academy and museum are integrated, showcasing the whole process from archaeological excavation to protection, research, interpretation, display and dissemination. The museum has an indoor exhibition area of 5,800 square meters and an outdoor exhibition area of 10,000 square meters. It involves 138 projects and exhibits a total of 5,215 cultural relics in 4,218 groups, of which more than 90% have been shown for the first time. .
With the theme of "archaeology", the museum combines cultural relics with the background of their excavation to interpret the ruins from the perspective of archaeology, tell the stories of archaeologists, outline the development context of Chinese archaeology and Shaanxi archaeology, and display the diversity and eclecticism of Chinese civilization. It enables the public to get closer to and better understand archaeology, so that the whole society can share in the achievements of cultural heritage protection.
The permanent exhibition of the museum is divided into 4 chapters: "Archaeological History", "Cultural Genealogy", "Archaeological Discovery" and "Cultural Protection Technology". The temporary exhibition hall is mainly used to display the latest major archaeological discoveries and special research results. There is also outdoor archaeology-themed exhibition area, display area of bricks in past dynasties, cultural relics display area for ceramic and stone carvings and so on.
